Very often I receive messages from couples who dream about getting married in France, and the first question regularly is ‘What does it cost to get married in France?
There is no simple standard answer to that question. ’It is simular to the choice you make for the type of car you prefer: do you want a Rolls Royce or a small Citroën? These are both cars that bring you from A to B, but there is a big difference in price. It’s the same with weddings.
Do you prefer a fairytale château with all facilities, or do you want to get married in an authentic old barn? Or maybe you celebrate your wedding in the garden of your holiday home in France? Do you bring 300 or 50 guests? And it also makes a difference if you choose a venue at the Cote d’Azur or near Paris, or somewhere in the countryside. So many choices that affect your budget. It all depends on what you prefer.
To help you find directions, here’s an little example:
For a weekend wedding in France with 2 nights and 50 guests, budget starts around 25.000 euros. With that you can find a nice venue with rooms for the bridal party, food and drinks for the weekend (from a simple BBQ on Friday evening till a brunch on Sunday afternoon), wedding cake, local photographer, music, flowers, tables, chairs, a wedding celebrant and taxi’s (if necessary). Of course this is a very rough estimation, but this is where it starts. Do you bring more guests, or do you have specific wishes, the budget rises.
Are you on a smaller budget, but you still dreaming about celebrating your wedding in France? Consider your options. Maybe bring fewer guests? And do you want to pay for the rooms for your guests or do you let them pay themselves? And what about having small sweet bites like French macarons instead of a large wedding cake? Also typically French, but for a smaller budget.
